I recently completed my Mat & Reformer Teacher Training with Body Form Education at The Core Effect in the Netherlands, and I’m so happy I decided to do it!
I had already been teaching Reformer Pilates for a while, but I felt there were still some gaps in my knowledge and really wanted to take the next step in developing myself as an instructor. That’s why I decided to do the full Mat & Reformer Teacher Training with Body Form.
What I really loved about the course was the combination of the original Pilates repertoire and more modern approaches to movement. I think it’s important to understand the roots of Pilates, but also how movement and our understanding of the body have evolved over time.
The online learning was incredibly valuable. The combination of reading the manuals and watching Kira Leigh explain everything in the videos made the material much easier to understand. There were also so many helpful resources, from mind maps to summaries, which made working through all the modules feel much more manageable. I could immediately start applying what I was learning to the classes I was already teaching, which I loved! And whenever I had questions, the Body Form team was always super quick and helpful with their responses.
The four practical days at The Core Effect were definitely a highlight. Having already built a foundation through teaching and the online modules, it was great to dive deeper, ask questions and really understand the concepts behind the exercises. Ali was an amazing educator! She shared so much knowledge, and her enthusiasm and passion for Pilates made the days even more enjoyable. I learned so much from her.
I’ve taken away so much from this experience, especially when it comes to programming, understanding the why behind movements, and learning how to work with injuries and pre- and postnatal clients. In reality, you’ll often have people in your classes dealing with an injury, pregnancy or recovering after giving birth, so knowing how to adapt exercises is incredibly important. I now feel much more confident offering modifications and progressions to make sure everyone gets the most out of the class, regardless of their level or individual needs.
I would definitely recommend Body Form Education, whether you’re completely new to teaching or already an instructor looking to develop further. The course gives you the knowledge, practical skills and confidence to really understand what you're teaching, adapt to different clients and keep growing as an instructor!
