Curriculum

What You Will Learn

Apparatus You Will Teach

Trapeze Table (Cadillac), Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel and Spine Corrector. Study each separately or all four together.

Foundations: Anatomy and Biomechanics

Functional anatomy in instructor-friendly language and how load, leverage and position change muscle recruitment on the apparatus.

Studio Equipment Repertoire with Purpose

Foundational to advanced exercises, each with clear intent, plus functional progressions beyond classical choreography.

Functional Strength and Programming

Push, pull, hinge, squat, bridge, rotation and anti-rotation patterns, with progressive load on the apparatus.

Injury-Informed Teaching

Adapt for knee, hip, low back, shoulder and ankle presentations without breaking class flow.

Pre and Postnatal Pilates (Included)

Led by a Women's Health Physiotherapist, with trimester-specific apparatus modifications.

Programming and Class Structure

Group, semi-private and mixed-level sessions in 30, 45 and 60 minute formats, with cueing, room management and music.

Beyond the Original Repertoire

We teach the complete original repertoire, then go beyond it. As a physiotherapy-led school we put a massive focus on the functional and dynamic movement patterns (squat, lunge, push, pull and hinge) and on how to teach with props like dumbbells and beyond, so students are well versed in every style of Pilates seen across the ever-evolving Pilates world today. That means they are set up for success in whichever style they choose, can get their clients the best outcomes and have the widest range of employability.

The 17-module theory curriculum is identical across Mat, Reformer, Studio Equipment and Barre. See all 17 modules and The Body Form Method.

The Body Form way

Great instructors don't simply know exercises. They understand movement.

Good to know

Why This Is Often Called Clinical Pilates

Studio Equipment Pilates and Clinical Pilates are used almost interchangeably, because both mean teaching on specialised apparatus in rehabilitation, allied health and movement settings.

  • Applied anatomy and biomechanics
  • Exercise adaptation for common musculoskeletal conditions
  • Programming for private and semi-private sessions
  • Pregnancy and postpartum exercise modification
  • Clinical reasoning and movement analysis
  • Progressive exercise prescription on the apparatus

Terminology varies between studios, employers and countries. What stays constant is the skill set you graduate with.

Reviews

What Students Say

“I recently completed the Studio Equipment Course with Body Form Education, both online and in person, and I couldn't recommend it more highly. I am currently certified in Mat and Reformer Pilates and based in Sydney, Australia. I chose this course to further develop my teaching skills, and it exceeded my expectations.”

Liza Marchenko

“I have just completed Mat and Reformer Body Form training in the Netherlands. It was absolutely the best training I have ever done in my Pilates career. I have already experienced classical and comprehensive trainings. I was amazed with the choice of our Mentor and her excellent performance, knowledge, beautiful tips on curing and growing confidence and teaching. The anatomy and biomechanics theory content is…”

Victoria Yermak

“I recently completed my Mat & Reformer Teacher Training with Body Form Education at The Core Effect in the Netherlands, and I’m so happy I decided to do it! I had already been teaching Reformer Pilates for a while, but I felt there were still some gaps in my knowledge and really wanted to take the next step in developing myself as an instructor.”

FAQ

Questions About This Course

Can a complete beginner enrol in Pilates teacher training?

Yes. No previous Pilates, anatomy, fitness or health-professional qualification is required for entry-level Mat or Reformer teacher training. You should expect professional study, physical practice, practice teaching and assessment.

Do I need to be fit or flexible?

No. Teaching is not a performance test. Your body size, strength, flexibility and injury history do not determine whether you can become an effective instructor. You are assessed on planning, communicating, observing, managing and adapting a class, not on performing every advanced exercise.

Can I complete Reformer without Mat first?

Yes. Reformer is a standalone entry-level qualification and Mat is not a prerequisite.

How many hours is the course?

The published course load is 250+ hours for a single certification and 365+ hours for Mat + Reformer. The calculated total is 251.5+ and 365.5+ hours. It includes 136+ shared online hours across 17 modules, 14 practical hours per discipline, 30+ hours of Exercise Library learning per discipline, 70 apprentice hours per discipline and the Final Theory Examination of about 1.5 hours.

Is it 250 hours of online lectures?

No. It includes the online modules, practical education, Exercise Libraries, observation, self-mastery, practice teaching, programming and teaching assessments, and the Final Theory Examination.

How long do I have to finish: 8 months or 12 weeks?

Both numbers are correct and they measure different things. You have 8 months of portal access from your enrolment date and must finish everything within it. For Hybrid students only, you also have 12 weeks per discipline after your final practical day to pass both assessments: Assessment 1 is due 3 weeks after, Assessment 2 is due 6 weeks after. Fully Online students have no individual assessment deadlines, only the 8 months.

What does tuition include?

Online learning and quizzes, practical education, digital manuals, Exercise Libraries, standard assessment marking and feedback, the Final Theory Examination and certification after successful completion. Printing manuals, travel, studio hire, First Aid and insurance are separate.

Are there payment plans?

Yes: pay in full, 12 weekly payments or 6 monthly payments. Plans cost more than paying in full, discounts apply to eligible pay-in-full purchases only and codes cannot be combined. You cannot pay part upfront and finance the rest.
