  • What is Body Form?
A Clinical Pilates and Physiotherapy Studio in Avalon on the Northern Beaches. Our mission is to merge the gap between healthcare and fitness - to provide a total wellness experience!
  • What can you help me with?
Absolutely anything ranging from physical injuries through to general fitness in a boutique, exclusive environment! Some examples include back/neck pain, womens health, arthritis, sports injuries- the list is endless!
  • How long have your trainers studied for?
4-year Physiotherapy University degree 8-month certificate 3 & 4 in Mat and Reformer Pilates 4 months Women's Health Specialist Physiotherapy Course 8-month Diploma of Rehabilitation and Clinical Pilates = Nearly 6 YEARS of training for you to get the BEST CARE!
  • What should I wear?
PILATES: Wear clothes you are comfortable moving and exercising in! Please remember your pilates socks - they can be purchased at reception. PHYSIO: Wear clothes you are comfortable removing if needed to expose the area we are working on - eg best to wear shorts if we are working on your knee
  • It is my first time in the studio - what must I know?
    - Please arrive at least 5 minutes early for your appointment /class as we will always get started right on time - If you are going to be late please call or text the studio - Use bathroom facilities or fill up water bottles outside - Come inside, place your shoes into the cubbies and take a seat!
  • What happens if I need to cancel?
You must cancel or reschedule 12 hours prior to class attendance otherwise your credit/payment will be forfeited - unless an appropriate medical certificate is provided. We all love our Pilates/Physiotherapy so please ensure enough time for another person to take your place! WHY? As a small business with a big emphasis on quality care, we need to cover our costs to keep offering you incredible service. We aim to help as many people feel better as possible and a late cancellation or missed appointment is a missed opportunity for us to help someone else! If you need to reschedule for the same day (within the 12hour window) - please call the office and see if we can accommodate.
  • Can I claim on private health insurance?
Physiotherapy and clinical pilates can be covered under most, however not all, private health insurance! If you are wanting to claim - please let us know for which service, and we can provide you with the item code number. Then review your policy or call your provider to confirm coverage prior to booking your appointment or membership!
  • How many people per class?
    Equipment group classes = 6 Semi-private = up to 3 Private = 1
  • Are your classes safe for pregnancy?
Yes, they are - we have a specific Mums Wellness class at 10.30 on a Wednesday specifically for pregnancy and mums and bubs! However, if that time doesn't suit you, you are welcome to book any class time! We always advise you to book a Physiotherapy appointment with our Women's Health Physio for the best guidance!
  • Is clinical Pilates safe for children?
Yes, it is! It can help rehabilitate injuries your child may have and help in the prevention of further injuries! Exceptionally helpful for kids who are competing in multiple sports to gain the extra edge over their peers.
  • Can I come to class casually?
As our classes are small, we design them for our specific participants! We understand based on evidence-based practice that effective and amazing changes in your body don't occur overnight! The evidence shows the best amount of change over 12 weeks - hence a 12 week commitment.
  • How am I sure Body Form will suit me?
Body Form clinical pilates classes are perfect for everyone as you can: - Enjoy a tailored program that focuses on your specific fitness needs - Rehabilitate any injuries with individual physio supervision - Exercise in a small, supportive group environment - Heal and strengthen your body after pregnancy or birth
  • What can I expect to achieve doing Pilates?
Pilates challenges the way you function and move your body! It helps reorganise the neuromuscular signals in your body to create more efficient movement and contractions of your muscles. This gives you increased muscle tone, reduced risk of injury, and reduced energy expenditure when performing your normal daily & sporting activities. Leaving you feeling fresh and energetic with increased confidence in your bodies abilities!
  • Why choose pilates with a Physiotherapist over a normal instructor?
Physiotherapists have an in-depth understanding of anatomy & pathology. We are registered and undertake compulsory continuing education every year - leaving us with the most up-to-date information to look after you! With nearly 6 years of training to get to this point - we understand strength/fitness, injuries, rehabilitation, pregnancy and birth and how bodies adapt to all stages of life! This means you get what you NEED and the best value for money!
  • Do I need a Physio consult before joining?
We recommend that everyone completes a Functional Assessment appointment - this allows us to gain a greater understanding of your physical condition and your specific fitness goals. Then we can design your individualised program, helping you get the most out of your sessions. It is a requirement if your want to claim your classes on healthfund!
